Polish jazz trumpet player Tomasz Stanko is UMO’s international star guest in the coming spring. He previously appeared with UMO at the Helsinki Festival in the early 2000s. This concert will feature some of the less-known modern jazz works of celebrated film composer Krzysztof Komeda from the 1950s and 1960s and some of Stanko’s own compositions.

- legendary Polish jazz trumpet player and composer, known for instance from his membership in Jazzdarings, one of the first free jazz bands in Europ
- entered into a subsequently significant collaboration with film composer Krzysztof Komeda in the 1960s, resulting in a number of significant jazz recordings
- released his début album on the ECM major label with Finnish jazz drummer Edward Vesala in the 1970s
- continues to tour with his own quintet, which includes top Finnish musicians Olavi Louhivuori (drums) and Alexi Tuomarila (piano)
